Things to do in Reading

Reading is the host of the annual Reading Festival, which has been running since 1971. It is considered as the largest UK music festival after Glastonbury and is exceptionally popular with music fans flocking to the city every year.

About Basingstoke

The history of Basingstoke is interesting as Basingstoke is often mistaken for a new town, In fact the town was an old market town expanded in the 1960's as part of a tripartite agreement between London County Council, Hampshire County Council and Basingstoke Borough Council. There are three local newspapers: the Basingstoke Gazette, Basingstoke Observer and the Basingstoke Independent. The town is also covered by the larger Hampshire Chronicle as well.

Things to do in Basingstoke

For shopping fans, Festival Place is a fantastic new shopping centre which opened in autumn 2002, adding a huge boost to the town centre.

Inside Festival Place you can find a selection of well-know bars including Lloyds in Festival Square and Liquid Nightclub. There are also some stunning traditional pubs away from the town centre including The Queen's Inn at Dummer and The Fox at Newfound, as well as contempory pubs such as the Portsmouth Arms in Hatch Warren and The Chineham Arms in Chineham.
