Basingstoke, Oxford & Reading social networking and how it all began...
Hailing from Reading herself, Sanchita Saha, now London-based CEO & founder of CitySocialising, first thought up the idea for a social networking site which focused on the development of lasting relationships offline in 2004. The idea came to her when she watched many of her peers move to London knowing no-one and she felt a way to help them find like-minded people in a relaxed setting was needed.
In 2005, with a loan from the Prince's Trust, Sanchita started the initial trial website. Her ambition was to create a reliable online and offline London social club for sociable professionals proactive and eager to connect with each other.
The first network was officially opened in January 2007 but it wasn't long before other cities saw the site and decided that their city needed the same treatment. Seven new UK cities had the CitySocialising makeover by October 2007 and due to the success of these sites, further cities were added to the network in 2009. These sites included this one which aims to encourage people looking for friends in Oxford, Basingstoke or Reading, to get socialising.
